Andrea Kelly, Niamh Daggott and Anneka Lawson; the first three St. James's Participants home
There was a tremendous atmosphere in O’Callaghan’s Stephens Green hotel on Monday June 6th when participants gathered from all over Ireland to take part in the Women’s Mini Marathon on behalf of St. James’s Hospital Foundation. Over 260 people signed up to take part in this year’s mini marathon on behalf of the hospital.
The Foundation were delighted to greet some familiar faces on the day, including Louise and Stephen Doyle along with their large group of over 50 participants who had travelled from Drogheda for the event. Three of Louise’s friends, Niamh Daggott, Anneka Lawson and Andrea Kelly were the first participants back to the hotel when they successfully completed the race in less than 60 minutes. First time Mini Marathon participants, teenage sisters Niamh and Fiona Clare from Swords, also completed the marathon in less than 60 minutes and were among the first people back to the hotel. Also among the crowd and adding to the atmosphere was committed fundraiser Sandra O’Rourke from Clondalkin with her friends.
Exhausted participants were treated to post-race leg massages by physiotherapists from the hospital’s Department of Physiotherapy using Weleda’s Arnica Massage Balm, generously donated by the Natural Medicine Company. Refreshed and revived, the participants congregated to see which lucky three women had won spot prizes of €100 vouchers for running shoes, generously donated by Cornmarket Insurance. Ann Mooney, Margaret King and Jennie Greene were the fortunate recipients.
