Senator David Norris and Eva Van den Bergh inspect the dolls’ house
The 2009 Christmas Raffle draw was held at St. James’s on December 17th – in broad daylight in front of impartial witnesses! The first-prize winner, Mrs Catherine Larkin from Birr, Co Offaly, won a dolls’ house and the two runners up each won a Christmas hamper while a fourth-prize winner won a driving school voucher. 2,691 tickets were sold to generous people from all over Ireland and sales generated €13,455 for the stroke service. St. James’s Hospital Foundation is deeply grateful to all who supported this raffle.
And to James Adam & Sons Auctioneers on St Stephen’s Green who most generously displayed the dolls’ house in their showroom window and who so effectively sold raffle tickets, the Foundation is indebted – the shop window for St. James’s is invaluable. The Foundation is also most grateful to The Doll Store on South Great George’s Street who supplied and decorated and furnished the Georgian-style dolls’ house. And a debt of gratitude is also owed to Sandra O’Rourke, friend of the hospital, who so kindly sourced the contents of and expertly made the hampers – and to Mike Watson of Dragon Driving School who so generously gave the driving school voucher. And last, but so important to the raffle’s success, the sales team at St. James’s, comprised of members of staff and friends and neighbours, must be acknowledged. For this great co-operation on the part of so many people, the Foundation and the stroke service are deeply grateful.
The official raffle results were as follows.
1st prize winner Mrs Catherine Larkin, Ticket no 1871
Runners up Mr Pat McKeever, Ticket no 1658
Ms Mary O’Donovan, Ticket no 144
4th prize winner Mr Bertrand Dierckens, Ticket no 2664
