During 2009 alone, 385 people from Dublin to Donegal to Limerick supported St. James’s this year by organising or taking part in events to fundraise for the hospital. These generous supporters contributed over €141,381 to St. James’s by collecting sponsorship in connection with marathon participation to football matches and organising events from golf classics to tractor runs. 330 women took part in the 2009 Women’s Mini Marathon for St. James’s, raising nearly €48,000 for a variety of different departments, wards and services. 526 runners, joggers and walkers took part in the first St. James’s Hospital Liberties Fun Run last year, which raised €16,000 in entry fees and additional sponsorship raised, all of which will benefit the hospital’s Stroke Unit. To read about these events and more, and to see pictures, please read the stories in our fundraising news section.
