€5,000 Mini Marathon gift for Breast Care

On Monday, September 1st 2008 St. James's Hospital received a special visit from one outstanding Mini Marathon participant, Ms Sandra O' Rourke, who presented a cheque for €5,000 to the Breast Care Department in St. James's.

Ms O' Rourke, a patient of the Breast Care Department, organised a group of 10 friends and family to take part in the 2008 Women's Mini Marathon, which took place on June 2nd. In addition to this effort, Ms O'Rourke also organised a pub quiz, which took place in Boomers Pub, Clondalkin. Proceeds from the event, along with the group's Mini Marathon sponsorship money, totalled €5,000 and has been very gratefully received by St. James's Hospital's Breast Care Department.

Adele Henderson, Breast Care Manager at St. James's, said: "It is wonderful to see a patient doing so much to help the hospital. We can't thank Sandra enough for her fundraising effort and this donation will make a real difference in our continuing development of Breast Care services at St. James's".
