Dolls’ House displayed in the window of James Adams & Sons
Ms Orla Smith, Surgical Day Ward, St. James’s Hospital, was drawn as the winner of the Foundation’s Dolls’ House Christmas raffle on December 23rd 2008. The winners of two runner-up prizes of Christmas hampers were Mr Tom Honan, Co Wicklow, and Mr Brian Gaughran, Drogheda. 1,961 tickets were sold in the raffle, raising €9,385 for the benefit of St. James’s Hospital.
The Dolls’ House raffle, a new fundraising initiative for St. James’s, was prompted by the most generous gift of a hand-made dolls’ house from a talented patient of the Respiratory Unit. The dolls’ house was fully furnished free of charge by The Doll Store, South Great Georges’ Street, and kindly displayed by James Adams & Sons, St. Stephen’s Green.
All proceeds of the Christmas raffle contributed to the annual fund, which was disbursed throughout the hospital – via an internal competition – to support research, education and the improvement of patient facilities at St. James’s.
St. James’s Hospital Foundation would like to thank all those who so generously supported this initiative by purchasing tickets and all who contributed to this fundraising effort: the kind donor of the dolls’ house, Adam’s and The Doll Store. We would also like to acknowledge in particular the support of patient and friend of St. James’s Hospital, Ms Sandra O’Rourke.
