Art students support St. James's

Eight students at the National College of Art and Design dedicated a portion of the proceeds of a pre-Christmas exhibition to the hospital. The colourful and intriguing end-of-term show was put on by third-year design students specialised in textile embroidery. Deirdre Harte, one of their number, said they took the initiative to make a contribution to St. James's because they felt it to be a neighbourly thing to do - the National College of Art and Design is located on Thomas Street, a stone's throw from the hospital. The exhibition was opened by Eilish Hardiman, Deputy CEO of St. James's Hospital, on December 11th and ran with great success for a week.

The students' donation was given for the general benefit of the hospital. Such donations are held in a pool of unrestricted donated income which is disbursed annually in small grants for new projects and initiatives within the hospital.
