A sunny Women’s Mini Marathon day in 2009

This year’s Women’s Mini Marathon will take place on Bank Holiday Monday, June 6th. Over 240 participants have so far joined the St. James’s Hospital team and will fundraise on behalf of the Breast Care Department, the Heart Support Unit, the Oncology Department and many other specialties and departments.

To join the St. James’s team, would-be fundraisers should contact the office of St. James’s Hospital Foundation at St. James’s Hospital on 01 428 4086 or e-mail to foundation@stjames.ie. Fundraisers will receive sponsorship cards, t-shirts, helpful advice from the hospital’s clinical nutritionists and physiotherapists in the run up to the big day – and massages following the race at O’Callaghan’s St Stephen’s Green Hotel – and they will feel good in the knowledge they are part of a great public contribution to the hospital.

The Women’s Mini Marathon is the biggest all-women sporting event in the world; 40,000 women have registered for this year’s race. And charities are the big winners – with most participants electing to collect sponsorship on behalf of their pet cause. 266 participants in the 2010 Women’s Mini Marathon fundraised over €36,000 for St. James’s Hospital.
