Giving to St. James's

Each gift to St. James’s Hospital, no matter how small, makes a difference to patients and their families. Your support helps the hospital staff provide the best possible care for the maximum number of patients.

Individual Donations

Individual gifts are both welcomed and appreciated. Donations can be made online, through the homepage of the Foundation or through the MyCharity.ie website. You may make an unrestricted donation, which will be allocated by the Board of the Foundation to the area where it is most needed, or elect to have your funds directed to the department or service of your choice.

Donations can also be made by cheque, draft or postal order. Please complete and return our gift form with your donation.

If you would like to make a donation by electronic transfer, please contact Aisling O'Dwyer at foundation@stjames.ie or 01-428 4086.

Naming opportunities are also available for major gifts.

Please note: If you are a PAYE employee, the St. James’s Hospital Foundation, as a registered charity, is entitled to claim tax relief on individual donations over €250 (€21/month). Under the scheme, a donation of €250 can be worth as much as €424 to St. James’s Hospital.

Self-employed tax payers are also entitled to tax relief, however in this case the refund is made to the taxpayer. For more information, please click here.

Participate in an Event

Throughout the year, the St. James’s Hospital Foundation organises a number of fundraising events on behalf of the hospital. These include the Mini-Marathon each June, the Liberties Fun Run in July, the Dolls’ House Raffle at Christmas and a Golf Classic in May.

If you are interested in participating in any of these events, or would just like some more information, please contact Aisling O'Dwyer at foundation@stjames.ie or 01-428 4086.

Organise a Fundraiser

St. James’s Hospital is fortunate to have benefitted from fundraising events organised by friends all over the country. These range in size and scope from the Alternative Miss Ireland Competition, and Trinity College’s Annual Med Day to charity sky dives, marathons, raffles and tractor runs.

To find out more about organising your own fundraiser, or to receive a letter of authorisation and official sponsorship cards from the Foundation, please contact Aisling O'Dwyer on 01-428 4086 or email foundation@stjames.ie.

Bequests

A tradition of health and social care has existed on the St. James’s Hospital site for over 300 years; a bequest in your will to the hospital will continue to support the work of the hospital into the future. It is estimated that over 40% of people in Ireland leave bequests to charitable causes in their wills.

As a registered charity, the St. James’s Hospital Foundation is exempt from both income and inheritance tax. This ensures that the full value of any bequest you make will be used for the benefit of the hospital.

For more information about leaving a bequest to the hospital, please click here. The Foundation would like to acknowledge the support of A&L Goodbody, legal advisors to the St. James’s Hospital Board, in providing this information.
