Award winning guide to palliative care services

The Specialist Palliative Care Team at St James's Hospital in collaboration with the Specialist Palliative Care team at Our Lady’s Hospice and Care Services, Harold’s Cross have created an educational DVD guide for patients and families which will provide accurate information about the speciality of palliative care e.g. what it is and what patients and families can expect to experience.  The program can be viewed http://www.stjames.ie/Departments/DepartmentsA-Z/P/PalliativeCare/DepartmentinDepth/

The palliative care guide was funded and project managed by the Regional Oncology Programme Office and produced in house by the Medical Illustration Unit and was awarded a gold medal at the Institute of Medical Illustrators annual conference on September 15th.  The program also received the institute’s premier video award – the John Corney Video Award for healthcare video.

At the same conference Anthony Edwards was awarded a gold medal for clinical photography.
