Competency Based Framework

Introduction

A Competency Based approach to Recruitment & Selection has been developed in St. James's Hospital and is currently being rolled out across all Departments/Directorates. This is to ensure the Hospital applies a fair and transparent selection process, in line with Equality Legislation, to the appointment of staff to all positions within the organisation. Details of the Competency Framework along with Applicant Guidelines to the Competency Framework are available below.

Key changes for Candidates applying for vacancies

  • Candidates applying for vacancies in these areas will be required to complete a Standard Application Form (SAF). Curriculum Vitae's will not be accepted for these vacancies.
  • As part of the Standard Application Form, candidates will be required to give situational examples of where they have, in the past, demonstrated specific competencies (behaviours) as outlined in the Role Profile.
  • A Guide for candidates on the Competency Based Framework and the process to be followed when applying to be considered for one of these vacancies is available below.

For areas outside of the four job categories above, our current recruitment process and relevant templates remain unchanged for the process of application for candidates.
