Fees

Fees Under Department of Health Guidelines the following charges apply

Irish Citizens & EU Residents visiting Ireland

Public Inpatients 

  • For public in-patients the statutory fee of €80 per day is charged.  This charge can accumulate to a maximum of €800 in a rolling 12 month period.

Private Inpatients (Patients with Private or Semi Private Health cover) 

  • For Semi-Private patients the daily charge is €813. 
  • For Private patients in single occupancy room the daily fee is €1,000.
  • For Private patients in multi-occupancy room the daily fee is €813.

Day Care 

  • For Public day care the statutory fee of €80 is charged per day. 
  • For Private patients the charge is €407 per day.

The hospital operates a Health Insurance Direct payment scheme on our Patient’s behalf.  This means that Patients with Private Health Insurance, the hospital can forward the patient’s bill directly to the relevant Health Insurance Company in the first instance.

In order to facilitate this service, patients will be asked to sign two forms at registration:

  1. The relevant health insurance form advising you’re insurance company you want to use your insurance
  2. The second from allowing the hospital to raise the correct charge

Please note: Using your Health Insurance Cover does not affect your premium rate

EU residents visiting Ireland are not liable for the statutory charges on presentation of a valid current, EHIC card.

Emergency Department

Under Department of Health Guidelines all patients attending the Emergency Department are charged an attendance fee of €100.  The only exemptions to this charged are listed below under Statutory Charge Exemptions.

 

Non-EU Resident Visitors

Inpatients / Emergency 

  • For public in-patients the daily fee is €935.77 per day and an additional statutory fee of €80 per day is charged for the first 10 days.  This statutory charge can accumulate to a maximum of €800 in any rolling 12 month period.
  • For Semi-private patients the daily charge is €1,748.77 
  • For Private patients in single occupancy room the daily fee is €1,935.77 
  • For Private patients in multi-occupancy room the daily fee is €1,748.77

Road Traffic Accidents Cases: (RTA)

The Health (Amendment) Act 1986 requires the hospital to levy the following charges upon a person who has been the victim of a Road Traffic Accident:-

  • Emergency Department Statutory Charge €100 
  • RTA Charge €406 
  • The inpatient daily fee is €935.77 per day and an additional statutory fee of €80 per day is charged for the first 10 days.  This statutory charge can accumulate to a maximum of €800 in any 12 month period.
  • RTA Outpatient Charge €170. 
  • RTA Physiotherapy €170 per attendance. 
  • If a patient chooses to be treated privately, accommodation charges will apply in addition to the above RTA Charges (€813 per day for a semi-private room, and €1,000 per day for a private room).

Statutory Charge Exemptions

  1. Medical Card holders (presentation of current valid card required). 
  2. Members of the defence forces and their dependants. (Letter of proof required). 
  3. Persons receiving service in respect of prescribed infectious diseases. 
  4. Temporary visitors to Ireland from another EU Country on presentation of a current valid EHIC Card are entitled to hospital services as a public patient without charge. 
  5. GP referrals with GP letter to Emergency Department (Presentation of GP Referral Letter required.
