Dr O'Keeffe completed her undergraduate medical training in Trinity College Dublin and her postgraduate radiology training in St James’s Hospital, before undertaking fellowships in oncological imaging in the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, Dublin and breast radiology and women’s imaging in Cambridge, UK.

Dr O’Keeffe was appointed as a senior lecturer in Trinity College Dublin in 2010. She has since spent two years as a consultant radiologist in St Bartholomew’s Hospital, London with a special interest in breast radiology, including breast screening.

Dr O’Keeffe’s research interest is in oncology imaging, particularly breast cancer. Her other special interest is in women’s imaging including fertility and gynaecological cancer.
