Changes to Immunology service due to COVID-19 crisis

  • All outpatient clinics are cancelled until further notice
    • As of 16/3/20 we are unable to review outpatients patients in our centre
    • Clinic lists are being reviewed by senior doctors and where possible virtual clinic telephone reviews are being carried out
    • It is not always possible to carry out a telephone review – in such cases clinic appointments will be rescheduled
    • There is likely to be a significant delay in rescheduled appointments
    • Very urgent appointments (established immunodeficiency or vasculitis) will be facilitated
    • Please note that due to illness amongst administration support staff we cannot timely or effective communication regarding clinic appointments – please do not come to our centre unless contacted to do so.

  • All Immunology Day Ward allergy diagnostic and challenge testing is cancelled until further notice.
  • The number of infusion slots in the Immunology Day Ward has been significantly reduced to comply with infection control and social distancing standards. Appointments may be delayed or rescheduled.
  • Where possible Immunoglobulin Replacement Therapy and Omalizumab patients are being switched to home treatment - this is to minimise the need to come to hospital at this time.
  • Some members of the Clinical Immunology team have been redeployed. This will limit our ability to respond to non-urgent enquiries at this time.
  • If you require a prescription update consider emailing your request to Immunologynurse@stjames.ie, quoting your name, Medical Record Number and the medications required with doses. Please note that in many cases your GP will be able to continue your prescription

We hope you will be patient with us whilst our service tries to deal with these issues
