The hospital’s main Outpatient Department consists of six suites, allocated on a morning and afternoon basis to a number of disciplines; audiology, cardiology, cardiothoracic, clinical nutrition, dermatology, ear nose and throat (ENT), endocrinology, gynaecology, general medicine, genetics, haematology, infectious diseases, immunology, maxillofacial, mental health, neurology, neurophysiology, nephrology, oncology, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, outpatient parenteral antimicrobial therapy (OPAT), pain management, palliative care, phlebotomy, physiotherapy, post COVID-19, radiation oncology, respiratory, rheumatology, urology, wound care, and warfarin maintenance.

The department is utilised by up to 80 physicians and sees 180,000 patients every year.

  • High-quality patient care is delivered in the Outpatient Department using evidence-based practice by means of:

    • Creating a plan of care using diagnostics and assessment
    • Preparation for and recovery from surgical procedures
    • Wound care and management
    • Collaboration with all members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic patient-centred care research, continued education and staff professional development.
  • Patient referrals can be made via:

    • Healthlink
    • GP letter sent directly to the consultant’s secretary
    • Post-inpatient stay, for follow-up care
    • Internal and external hospital referral.
