In its 50th year, St James’s Hospital is delighted to launch the St James’s Hospital Staff Recognition Awards. These awards aim to acknowledge and celebrate staff across all disciplines and departments within the hospital. The St James’s Hospital site has a long tradition of providing care to the Dublin 8 community and beyond and it is now Ireland’s largest acute teaching hospital.
Of the five award categories, one is the Patients’ Choice Award. This is an opportunity for members of the public to thank any staff member in the hospital who has made a difference to theirs or their loved one’s care.
Speaking about the awards Chief Executive Officer of St James’s Hospital, Mary Day, said,” St James’s Hospital has been serving the local community for the last 50 years, and in the year of this anniversary, we’re delighted to give members of the public the opportunity to highlight how staff from all disciplines and departments across the hospital have enhanced their patient experience. Coming from the patient this will mean so much to staff as it is the patient who is at the centre of all we do here in the hospital.”
The hospital’s Patient Representative Group said, “The past 18 months have been a stressful and worrying time for patients and the staff who care for them. As patients and members of the Patient Representative Group, the Patients’ Choice Award now gives patients and their loved ones the opportunity to take part in recognising and celebrating the staff who are with us every step of the way on our patient journey.”
Nominations for the awards opens 11 October and closes 12 November. If you would like to nominate a St James’s Hospital member of staff under the Patients’ Choice category, you can do so here. The inaugural awards ceremony is set to take place on 16 December.
