Mr O’Donovan specialises in paediatric plastic surgery, ear reconstruction surgery, reconstructive breast surgery, skin cancer reconstruction and cosmetic surgery. He has been practicing as a consultant plastic surgeon since 2004 and holds posts in St James’s Hospital and the Children’s Health Ireland (CHI) at Crumlin.
Mr O'Donovan graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons (RCSI) in Ireland in 1991 and went on to specialise in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery, working in major centres in Toronto, Miami and Liverpool.
He completed his plastic surgery training in 2001. He completed an MD thesis examining methods to prevent facial deformities in children undergoing cancer treatments in 2003.
For 10 years, Mr O’Donovan was a member of the National Committee of the RCSI, responsible for the training of Plastic Surgery Specialist Registrars in Ireland.
Member and past secretary of the Irish Association of Plastic Surgeons (IAPS) and is presently the national secretary representing Ireland at the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ISAPS).
Since commencing his training in plastic surgery in 1994, Mr. O’Donovan has been the author of multiple peer-reviewed papers and articles on a wide variety of plastic surgery topics.
