The Cryobiology Laboratory Stem Cell Facility provides clinical products to the National Adult Stem Cell Transplant Programme at St James's Hospital and is the Irish collection centre for the Irish Unrelated Donor Bone Marrow Programme.  

Cryobiology

  • The Cryobiology Laboratory Stem Cell Facility provides the following services:

    • Clinical product for the National Adult Allogeneic Stem Cell Transplant Programme at St James's Hospital
    • Acts as the National Collection Centre for the Irish Unrelated Donor Bone Marrow Programme
    • Largest autologous stem cell processing laboratory, servicing Dublin based hospitals and nationally referred patients for autologous transplant.
  • Stem cell collection, processing and transplantation are a specialist service provided by the Haematology Clinical Team and referral is through the Stem Cell Transplant team.

  • Stem cell collection, processing and transplantation are specialist services provided by the Haematology Clinical team and referral is through the HOPe Directorate Stem Cell Transplant team.

    • The Cryobiology Laboratory Stem Cell Facility is a licensed EU Tissue Establishment under the Health Products Regulatory Authority (HPRA) to collect, process, store and distribute haemopoietic stem cells from bone marrow, mobilised peripheral blood stem cells and lymphocytes.
    • The Laboratory is a JACIE accredited facility for the collection, processing and distribution of stem cells for transplant at St James's Hospital and is the national collection site for the Irish Unrelated Bone Marrow Registry (IUBMR) under National Marrow Donor Programme (NMDP) guidelines.
    • Undergoing known consignor status with Irish Aviation Authority.
