The Hepatology Centre provides care and treatment to patients with gastroenterology and liver diseases. The centre provides a comprehensive integrated service for the treatment of all forms of liver disease and operates a patient centred approach through multidisciplinary team care.

  • The Hepatology Centre operates a number of consultant-led clinics that monitor and treat the following conditions and their complications:

    • Viral hepatitis
    • Non-alcohol fatty liver disease (NAFLD)
    • Alcohol related liver disease
    • Auto-immune liver disease (AIH, PBC,PSC)
    • Haemochromatosis
    • Cirrhosis
    • Liver and biliary cancers

    Our hepatology nurse specialists  provide consultant supported nurse-led services for the following;

    • Viral hepatitis (HBV, HCV)
    • Fibroscan service
    • Prison in-reach service
    • Cirrhosis management
    • Venesection clinics

    Our Hepatology-Phlebotomy Service provides blood tests for all hepatology outpatient clinics

  • Access to this service is via GP/ Physician referral.

    On all referrals, please state the reason for the referral and give results of relevant laboratory/ radiology investigations.
