National Study

22 October, 2020

A national study to look at the rates of previous COVID-19 infections in healthcare workers is currently underway at St James’s Hospital and University Hospital Galway. Staff in these two hospitals have been invited to have a blood test to determine the presence of COVID-19 antibodies. The study, called PRECISE, will tell if it is likely that these healthcare workers have had the infection at some stage, even if they never had any symptoms.

The study is being coordinated by a research team from each hospital, will be repeated in six months and the data will be compared.
