Sharon Slattery (Director of Nursing)

Sharon began her nursing career in St James’s Hospital and has worked as a staff nurse both in St James’s Hospital and internationally. She has held multiple promotional posts within the organisation and in the autumn of 2018, was appointed as the hospital's Director of Nursing. 

Sharon has a special interest in developing nursing roles within the ambulatory care setting. She has collaborated closely with the HSE and the clinical care programmes in developing, appointing and supporting advanced nursing practice posts for both Clinical Nurse Specialists and Advanced Nurse Practitioners in the chronic diseases clinical pathways in St James’s Hospital. 

Sharon’s focus has always been, and will continue to be, directed towards working with her nursing team to ensure positive experiences for patients and improved patient outcomes for those in our care in St James’s Hospital. She will continue to carry out her duties through a combination of collaboration, strong relationships, transactional leadership, strategic thinking, constructive engagement with change, unwavering professionalism and integrity, showing innovation and sharing of her passionate belief in the value and hugely important role that the nursing profession has to offer.
