Staff Recognition Awards 2024

The annual St James’s Hospital Staff Recognition Awards ceremony took place on the hospital’s campus. This year marked the fourth year of the awards ceremony, and saw ten members of staff recognised and awarded for their outstanding contributions and dedication to patient care.

The winners of this year’s awards include the following:

• Team of the Year - Catering Department
• Outstanding Contribution - James Hennessy, Medical Workforce  
• Service Excellence Award - Matthew Rooney, Facilities Management  
• Service Excellence Award - Carole Keena, Catering Department (Presented Posthumously),
• Lifetime Achievement Award -  John Reynolds, Prof. of Surgery
• Lifetime Achievement Award - Mary Byrne, Chief Medical Scientist, Laboratory
• Patient Choice (Clinical) - Dr David Lennon, Specialist Registrar in Orthopaedics
• Patient Choice (Non-clinical) - Paul Griffiths, Facilities Management
• CEO Outstanding Contribution - Cathal Kinsella, Data Protection 
• CEO Project Team of The Year - Scan for Safety

Speaking at the 2024 awards ceremony, Chief Executive Officer of St James’s Hospital, Mary Day said, “The hundreds of nominations received this year, highlight the great work happening across the hospital every single day. I would like to thank everyone who made a nomination, and in doing so, shared their personal experiences with us."
