The INTERACT EUROPE-100 TRAINING programme

4 December, 2024

We are delighted to announce that the Trinity St James’s Cancer Institute has been officially selected as part of the new cohort of Cancer Centres under the EU co-funded project INTERACT-EUROPE 100, implementing for the first time this pan-European Inter-Specialty Cancer Training Programme.

This is a significant achievement which will enable our trainers and trainees to participate in this education programme. Cancer patients in Europe are treated by an array of different specialties and professions: medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, surgical oncologists, cancer nurses and many others involving extensive teamwork but understanding each other’s role is needed to enhance collaboration and benefit patient care.

The goal of this training programme is to improve cancer care by improving the collaboration and educational needs of those providing it.

Speaking about this development Prof Jacintha O’Sullivan, Education Lead for Trinity St James’s Cancer Institute commented:

‘As Education Director of the Trinity St. James's Cancer Institute (TSJCI), I'm delighted that TSJCI has been successfully accepted onto the INTERACT EUROPE-100 TRAINING programme. Trainers and trainees across different disciplines from TSJCI will participate in this cancer training programme.  The INTERACT-EUROPE 100 vision is all about breaking down medical silos and provides professionals from different specialties with the skills to communicate with each other more effectively for better patient care.’
