  • Mr Lonergan graduated with degrees in both physiology and medicine from Trinity College, Dublin. After basic surgical training in Dublin, he was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to Mayo Clinic, USA for a prostate cancer research fellowship for which he was awarded an MD from Trinity College, Dublin. He returned to Ireland for higher surgical training in urology followed by a one-year National Doctors Training and Planning (NDTP) – Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) Aspire fellowship in quality improvement in surgery. He then completed two years of subspecialty fellowship training in urologic oncology at the University of California, San Francisco, USA before returning to St James’s Hospital as a Consultant Urologist in 2021.
