Dr Mc Menamin’s current practice includes dermatopathology, soft tissue pathology and gastrointestinal biopsy pathology. She is a member of the skin cancer multidisciplinary team (MDT) at St James’s Hospital and reviews cases for the sarcoma MDT conference at St Vincent’s Hospital. She is the current clinical lead in dermatopathology and quality in the Department of Histopathology.
Dr McMenamin has contributed to the National Cancer Control Programme’s (NCCP) working groups for skin cancer and sarcoma and is a Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (RCPI) trainer. She was appointed as a consultant histopathologist at St James’s Hospital in 2001 and underwent proleptic training in dermatopathology at St John’s Institute of Dermatology, London and University of California, San Francisco.
Dr McMenamin is a University College Dublin medical graduate with honours (1993) (MbBCh BAO), MRCPI, FRCPath, Dip (Dermatopathol) RCPath.
Distinctions and awards included the Ambrose Birmingham Medal in Anatomy (1989), the John McGrath memorial prize in Pathology (1991), DK O’Donovan Medal, Freeman medal and the Mater Medal in Medicine (1993).
Dr McMenamin has over 40 original peer-reviewed international publications. She is a contributor to the World Health Organisation Classification of Tumours 5th Ed. Soft Tissue and Bone Tumours, 2020 and the International Collaboration on Cancer Reporting Melanoma dataset, 2020.
