Dr Róisín Plunkett

  • Dr Plunkett is a liaison psychiatrist, specialising in the area of psycho-oncology. She graduated with honours from Trinity College Dublin (TCD) in 2012. Dr Plunkett trained in the Dublin University Rotational Training Programme (now the TCD Deanery) of the College of Psychiatrists of Ireland and obtained Membership of the College of Psychiatrists of Ireland (MCPsychI) and of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MCRPsych).

  • Dr Plunkett went on to complete Higher Specialist Training in General Adult Psychiatry, with an annotation in liaison psychiatry. During her higher training, she completed Postgraduate Diplomas in Medical Education (RCSI) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TCD). She chaired the Trainee Committee of the College of Psychiatrists and represented psychiatry at a national level within the Forum of Postgraduate Medical Training Bodies.

  • Dr Plunkett will be awarded a Doctorate of Medicine in Trinity College Dublin in 2022 for her research focusing on patient dignity. She has also published research in the areas of coercion, capacity, liaison psychiatry in Ireland and the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on patients with anxiety disorders.

    Dr Plunkett is currently involved in the development of a model of care for liaison psychiatry in Ireland, and a national child, adolescent and young adult (CAYA) psycho-oncology model of care.
