Speciality: Microbiology

Professor Wagener is a consultant microbiologist at St James’s Hospital and an associate professor in clinical microbiology at Trinity College Dublin. He is also a consultant microbiologist at the Health Service Executive (HSE) Public Health Laboratory in Dublin. He completed his higher professional training in clinical microbiology at the University of Munich in Germany in 2014. He was a senior lecturer and consultant at the University of Würzburg in Germany from 2017 to 2020, until he moved to Ireland.
