The Ministry of Pastoral Care is an integral component of the multi-disciplinary approach to holistic, patient-centred care at St James’s Hospital. This is achieved through providing a compassionate presence to patients, their families and staff, within the context of sacramental and non-sacramental ministry, by professionally trained and accredited healthcare chaplains.
Our Chaplaincy team ensures that patients, staff, relatives and friends in our hospitals can receive the support they need from representatives of various faiths and beliefs. Members of the Pastoral Care team visit patients on the wards throughout the hospital and respond to referrals from patients, families or staff members.
The department is staffed 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. The on-call chaplain can be contacted via the switchboard on (01) 410 3000, bleep 686. Please contact our switchboard if you require our services as an inpatient.
