The Wound Clinic is a Clinical Nurse Specialist - led service and is an integral part of the general surgery multidisciplinary team.
One full-time Clinical Nurse Specialist and one part-time Staff Nurse provide care for patients with complex surgical wounds complex fistulas, feeding tubes and drains. For a full list of services provided, refer to the details below.
We do not accept new referrals from GPs. Contact the consultant secretary directly for new appointments.
You will receive a text message with details about your appointment and with contact details for the clinic.

Family members and friends are welcome to attend for education so that you can manage your wound at home. We can also refer you to a Community Health Centre for dressings, depending on your individual care plan.
Self-referrals are accepted for existing patients only.

• Pilonidal abscess/sinus wounds
• Perianal wounds and draining loop (seton)
• Surgical wounds with postoperative complications - seroma, dehiscence, sinus, fistula etc.
• Large or complex surgical wounds requiring negative pressure wound therapy
• Hard-to-heal surgical wounds
• Colostomy/ileostomy reversal sites
• Wounds after elective or urgent small surgical procedure healing by secondary intention
• Care and removal of abdominal drains
• Care for feeding tube site complications (hypergranulation) - surgical jejunostomy, percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG), radiologically inserted gastrostomy/jejunostomy.
