The William Stokes Postgraduate Centre facilities are available to deliver and support medical education programmes and the centre plays a key role in the organisation, coordination and ongoing development of medical education, in close liaison with Trinity College Dublin (TCD), the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (RCPI), the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI), National Doctors Training and Planning (NDTP) and our community partners in general practice (GPs).

  • St James's Hospital supports a large number of doctors, both in structured training programmes in the disciplines of medicine and surgery and in standalone posts, and takes great pride in its top class teaching and education of postgraduate students. As a Level 4 training hospital, teaching obligations and responsibilities are delivered in many guises across disciplines and specialties, including Medical and Surgical Grand Rounds, Medical Update, formal intern and SHO teaching, Specialty Journal Clubs, MDT's, bedside tutorials, research meetings, case conferences, seminars etc.
