St James’s Hospital (SJH) Nursing Open Day –Saturday, 24 September 2022

On Saturday 24 September, St James’s Hospital is hosting its autumn Nursing Open Day, the perfect opportunity to meet with the nursing team, get familiar with our campus and hear about all the fantastic opportunities available at St James’s Hospital.

With over 70 nationalities from across the globe making up the hospital’s workforce, the campus is a diverse environment, with a range of cultural events taking place each month, educating and sharing traditions and celebrations with staff from all corners of the globe.

St James’s Hospital is Ireland’s largest acute academic teaching hospital and has 1,066 inpatient beds and employs approximately 5,000 members of staff. Research, innovation, personal and professional development are strongly encouraged across all disciplines and departments, with the hospital annually investing over €600,000 in third level education fees, €25,000 to support attendance at national and international seminars and €50,000 in loans towards further education.

St James’s Hospital has the greatest number of clinical specialities, sub-specialities and national services in the acute adult hospital system in Ireland. It has the largest medical oncology programme nationally and is a centre of excellence for the delivery of cancer care in Ireland, comparable in scale and complexity to other major European centres.

Having developed strong relationships with local neighbours in the Dublin 8 community, St James’s Hospital staff have a range of deals and special offers available specifically to them. The hospital is well-connected by public transport, and is served by a number of Dublin Bus routes and the Luas, which connects the campus to both Heuston Station and Connolly Station.
