All of us here at St James’s Hospital would like to express our sincerest gratitude to Irish Distillers and their 180 staff members, who on Tuesday, 25 June, 2024, breathed new life into a number of under-loved spaces around the hospital campus.
The Irish Distillers team did amazing work across four different areas on campus. A much-needed injection of colour and animation was given to the MISA and Camino Rest gardens, the Emergency Department staff area, as well as the courtyard at the rear of the hospital concourse.
Seeing the result of the makeover the team gave to Hospital 5’s garden last year, the hospital was more than happy to be approached by Difference Days, an organisation which collaborates with companies to deliver socially responsible corporate initiatives, asking us to collaborate with Irish Distillers once again this year.
Thank you to Donal McKiernan, Facilities Management Project Manager in St James’s Hospital, who co-ordinated this year’s events and liaised with Irish Distillers to facilitate the logistics of the work involved.
Transforming the green spaces we have into something beautiful that patients and staff can enjoy is invaluable, contributing positively to our mental health and wellbeing, and reducing stress.
Thanks to the 180 staff members from Irish Distillers who stepped out of the office and picked up a shovel to partake in a day of strenuous work for the benefit of patients and staff of St James’s Hospital. For this, we at St James’s Hospital are forever grateful.
