The Hospital is proud to announce that it has successfully achieved ISO 50001 certification, awarded by Amtivo, a globally recognised and accredited certification body. Notably, St James’s Hospital is the largest acute academic teaching hospital to receive this accreditation, marking a significant milestone in leadership for energy management within the healthcare sector.
This achievement highlights the hospital’s commitment to improving energy performance, reducing environmental impact, and driving sustainable operations across its facilities, while aligning with internationally recognised best practice standards.
ISO 50001 strengthens the hospital’s approach to energy management, supporting ongoing efforts to optimise energy use, lower emissions, and embed sustainability into day-to-day operations.
“At St James’s Hospital, we are constantly striving to improve and innovate,” said Aidan Turley, Director of Facilities Management. “Achieving ISO 50001 is a significant milestone that reinforces our dedication to sustainable energy management and operational excellence. It reflects the hard work and collaboration of our teams and demonstrates our commitment to meeting the highest standards in our industry.”
The certification was awarded by Amtivo, an industry-leading certification body accredited by the Irish National Accreditation Board (INAB). This ensures the certification meets internationally recognised standards, providing assurance to stakeholders that the hospital operates with integrity, transparency, and credibility in its energy management practices.
The hospital will continue to build on this achievement by further enhancing energy efficiency, reducing environmental impact and supporting broader sustainability goals.
