Ms Early graduated from the National University of Ireland, Galway in 2003. She completed her Basic and Higher Surgical Training in Ireland. She obtained her medical degree in molecular medicine in the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and also a master’s degree in medical ethics and law. She joined St James’s Hospital in 2014 and is also a clinical senior lecturer at Trinity College Dublin. 

Ms Early spent her post-specialist training in London at University College Hospital at Westmoreland Street (formerly the Heart Hospital), where she specialised in adult cardiac surgery with an interest in aortic surgery and transcatheter valve implantation.
