Dr Lavan is a medical graduate of RCSI, Dublin. She completed higher speciality training in Geriatric Medicine in 2020. During her training she was awarded a PhD from UCC entitled “Targets for Deprescribing in High Risk Older Adults”. While working at St James’s Hospital she completed a Masters in Health Service Management with Trinity College Dublin. She was appointed a senior clinical lecturer in 2021 with Trinity College Dublin. She is currently the Co-Chair of the Drugs and Therapeutics Committee at St James’s Hospital and as of April 2024 is the NCCP co-Lead in Geriatric Oncology. She is a member of the Irish Gerontology Society committee and serves as chair for the scientific committee.

Dr Lavan has publications in the area of clinical pharmacology, geriatric oncology and falls and syncope.
