Dr Gabor Zilahi graduated from the University of Semmelweis in 2008 and completed specialist training in anaesthesia and intensive care in 2015. His training was divided between both Hungary and Ireland. During this period, Dr Zilahi was awarded the European Diploma in Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care (2013), the European Diploma in Intensive Care Medicine (2014) and the Fellowship of the Joint Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine of Ireland (2015).Following this, he undertook a year-long Fellowship in Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, on completion of which he was presented with the Senior Trainee of the Year Award.

Since then, he has completed a post-CST Fellowship in Intensive Care Medicine (ICM) divided between two major university teaching hospitals in Dublin, the Mater Misericordiae and St James’s Hospitals, and a year-long Fellowship in ICM in King's College Hospital and Guy's and St Thomas Hospital in London. Dr Zilahi worked in London as a consultant in St George’s University Hospital’s Cardiothoracic and General Intensive Care Unit, for five years before he joined St James’s Hospital in 2022.
