*** Patient Notice ***
St James's Hospital is operating on an appointment only basis for chest and trauma X-ray services until further notice.
All GP X-ray referrals are by appointment only. Please contact the Radiology Department to arrange an appointment
What is an X-ray?
Plain radiography, or X-ray, is the original and most commonly used form of diagnostic imaging. It uses small amounts of radiation that are passed through a selected part of the body to produce an image on film. Plain radiography is commonly used in the evaluation of the chest and musculoskeletal system. When used in conjunction with contrast, the gastrointestinal and urinary systems can be assessed.
Your results will be sent to the doctor that referred you for the scan.
Patients that attend the outpatient department will get their results at their next outpatient appointment.
If your GP did not send you for the scan then they will not automatically receive the results. We request that all GPs ensure that they are registered with HealthLink before sending in referrals.
