What we do

Breast Care at St. James's Hospital provides services to patients with symptomatic breast disease and in particular to women with breast cancer. A multi-disciplinary team comprising of Breast Surgeons for clinical assessment, Breast Radiologists for breast imaging and Breast Pathologists for tissue diagnosis work together to ensure patients are seen quickly and receive the highest quality of investigation and care.

Appointment Instructions

New Patient Appointments: new patients requiring appointments must submit a referral from their GP / Consultant. New referrals are prioritised by a consultant breast surgeon and an appropriate appointment will be scheduled for the patient. Patients will be notified of their appointment date by post or on some occasions by telephone.

Return Patient Appointments should be made at the time of attendance at the clinic or alternatively by calling the Breast Care Reception (01 416 2192) or Breast Care Secretary (01 428 4120).

Referral Procedures

GP referrals are to be made by completing and faxing our standardised referral proforma to the Breast Care Department. Alternatively, referrals can be sent via Healthlinks.
