St. James’s Hospital continues to plan and deliver care to our patients in accordance with national guidelines.

In order to protect our patients and staff we have had to limit or change some of our services at this time. Please see updated information below related to appointments and admissions.

Outpatient appointments

All non-essential outpatients appointments are postponed until further notice. We are working to provide these services in a different way, such as virtual clinics (telephone call) where possible. All patients will be contacted by medical or nursing  staff about their appointments. Please do not come to the Hospital for an appointment unless you are contacted by us and asked to attend.

Day case and endoscopy  appointments

All non-essential endoscopy and day case procedures and surgeries (medical and surgical) are postponed until further notice. Please do not come to the Hospital for an appointment unless you are contacted by us and asked to attend.

Inpatient admissions

All non-urgent admissions to the hospital are postponed. You will be contacted by the Hospital’s Admissions Office to reschedule.

Visiting Restrictions

In the interest of protecting patients and staff and to reduce the possible spread of COVID-19 infection, we are requesting that the public do not visit the Hospital at this time.  

In exceptional clinical circumstances visiting will be facilitated for patients by prior agreement from the Clinical Nurse Manger on the ward

No children are permitted to visit the Hospital under any circumstances.
