Cardiac Rehabilitation

What we do

Cardiac Rehabilitation aims to get cardiac patients back to a full and active life after cardiac events such as heart attack, angioplasty, stenting and/or cardiac surgery.
We aim to help cardiac patients and their families understand their heart condition.  In addition we aim to reduce the risk of future cardiac events by educating and supporting and motivating people who have cardiac disease to make the following lifestyle alterations:

Stop smoking, achieve a targeted cholesterol level, control high blood pressure, achieve an optimal healthy weight, manage stress, take regular exercise, manage medications, resume work &/or other activities.

Participation in a cardiac rehabilitation programme can also help patients recover after a coronary event by restoring confidence.

Our programmes run as follows:

  • Six week programme, three times a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings.
  • Eight week programme, twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.
  • Modified eight week programme on Wednesday afternoons.

These programmes consist of interactive educational talks as well as a programme of exercise in the gym. Each session lasts about two hours.
