Mammography & Breast Imaging

The breast imaging service in St James’s is one of the National Cancer Control Programme’s eight centres of excellence. All imaging and procedures required for the work-up of breast disease are provided including mammography, ultrasound, MRI and stereotactic biopsy. We aim to provide all imaging investigations as quickly as possible to alleviate anxiety.

The majority of the referrals for imaging tests including mammography come from the Symptomatic Breast Clinic or Family Risk Clinic. If you have a symptom that you are worried about you should go to your GP who will determine whether you need to be seen at one of these clinics.
