The department covers all aspects of Neurology as well as having expertise into various areas of specialisation. These include Cognitive disorders, Epilepsy, Movement disorders, Multiple Sclerosis, Neuromuscular disorders and Neurology rehabilitation.

Cognitive disorders

We see patients who have been referred with cognitive difficulties in a speciality clinic once a month. Cognitive difficulties include problems with memory, language, visual spatial function and behaviour. Cognitive problems can be caused by many conditions affecting the brain.


Movement disorders

Multiple Sclerosis

Multiple sclerosis is a condition of the brain and the spinal cord. Management is coordinated by your consultant neurologist working in conjunction with the MS team of nurses, physiotherapists, medical social work and occupational therapists.

Investigations and procedures

When you see the Neurologist you may require further investigations and procedures such as:

  • Nerve conduction studies and EMG
  • EEG
  • Blood testing
