An ultrasound scan is a simple, painless examination using a small probe, which produces sound waves to examine the organs in the body. This examination does not involve the use of X-rays.

Your results will be sent to the doctor that referred you for the scan.
GP results are sent electronically via Healthlink.
All referrals will be checked by a Radiologist before an appointment is scheduled. Normally it takes 1-2 weeks before a patient will hear from the Ultrasound Department with an appointment date and time.
