HOPe Directorate

 

The HOPe Directorate at St James's is dedicated to providing comprehensive and compassionate care to patients navigating the complexities of cancer care. With a multi disciplinary team of specialists, the directorate delivers cutting edge treatments, advanced diagnostic services and holistic support tailored to the individual needs of each patient and their families.

The Directorate offers access to clinical trials and pioneering therapies,  ensuring patients receive the most up to date care available. Beyond medical care, the directorate prioritises emotional and psychological well being, providing a range of support services to guide patients through every stage of their journey.

Key components of the HOPe Directorate include:

Haematology:

  •   National stem Cell Transplant(SCT) and CAR-T program, providing life saving treatments for blood cancers and other complex haematological conditions.
  • Haemoglobinopathy -Delivering expert care for patients with genetic blood disorders such as sickle cell and thalassemia
  • National Coagulation Centre (NCC), Ireland's leading center for the treatment and management of bleeding and clotting disorders

Medical Oncology:

  • Offering state of the art cancer treatments and access to Cancer Genetics, which focuses on hereditary cancer risk assessment and management

Palliative Care:

  • Providing compassionate support to patients with serious illness, focusing on enhancing quality of life and alleviating symptoms

Psychological Medicine:

  • Ensuring holistic care by addressing the mental and emotional well being of patients and their families

As part of Irelands largest academic Hospital, the HOPe Directorate combines clinical expertise, research innovation and patient centred care. Our mission is to deliver the highest standards of care while advancing knowledge and treatment options in these critical fields.

The HOPe Directorate includes the Haematology Oncology Day Centre(HODC), an ambulatory care centre for the administration of Systemic Anti Cancer Therapy(SACT), Supportive care and medical consultation,

Inpatient wards include:

  • Denis Burkitt ward (National SCT/CAR-T ) ward
  • Donal Hollywood ward ( Haematology/Oncology/Radiotherapy and Palliative care ward)
  • Private One (Haematology/Oncology ward)
